Song of Solomon 1:2b — “For your love is better than wine.”

There are moments in Scripture where a single phrase captures the entire longing of the human soul. “Your love is better than wine” is one of them. In just a few words, the bride declares that nothing on earth compares to the sweetness, pleasure, and satisfaction found in the presence of Jesus. Wine symbolizes joy, celebration, comfort, and earthly delight—but even the best this world can offer pales in comparison to one moment of true fellowship with the King.

This is more than poetry. It is a revelation.

When we encounter Jesus—not just know about Him, not just serve Him, but experience His love—our hearts awaken to a new reality: He is the only One who truly satisfies.

The presence of God is not an accessory to the Christian life; it is the Christian life. Everything flows from His nearness. Everything changes when He draws close.

In His presence, burdens lift.
In His presence, fears dissolve.
In His presence, shame loses its voice.
In His presence, the soul remembers why it was created—to love and be loved by Him.

Wine can warm the body, but His love warms the heart. Wine can bring temporary gladness, but His love brings eternal joy. Wine affects the senses, but His love transforms the soul.

Many believers live distant from this reality—not because Jesus is far, but because our hearts are distracted, exhausted, or numb. Yet the Bridegroom King invites us daily into a deeper place: a place where His love becomes our strength, our song, our delight, and our satisfaction.

To discover the sweetness of His presence is to discover the very reason we exist.

Today, pause. Breathe. Close your eyes.
Whisper His name.
Let your heart reach for Him.
Let Him draw near.

And may you taste again the sweetness of the One whose love is better than wine.
